Without doubt we can say that the property and in particular the second home market during the last couple of years has seen a very healthy growth after the bleak years between 1990-1996. The ALGRARVE is more and more becoming the favourite holiday destination for many people, easy reachable and with a sound political and weather climate. It is notable that for example 60% of the properties in the Lagos district now are second home properties.

If it keeps pace with the increase of property prices in England is hard to say. At the moment of writing this (June 2007) it seems that the property market is still very much alive. However the Portuguese middle and upper market has in fact shown quite a drop in volume over the past 6 months this due to the rise in interest rates.
